Section Fourty-Nine

Langdon slowly descended into the Demon's hole. When he got to the bottom, his foot hit on the slippery decay. He felt a bolt of fear sent through his body when he found himself face-to-face with skulls. As he looked around, his eyes came across the body, stripped naked, standing upright, buried up to his waist in dirt. His hands were tied behind his back with a red Cardinal's sash. His mouth was filled with dirt from the earth, and on his chest he was branded with an ambigram which said, earth. They were too late, the first killing had already occured.
After the Swiss Guard team came and got the body cleared out, Langdon and Vittoria searched for a sign that would point them to their next destination. When they finally realized that it was a statue outside, they looked up all of the churches which were in the direction of the pointed finger of the angel on the statue. Once they knew where they had to go, they were on their way to the next destination to try and stop the Hassassin.
